Waterworks Visit

The Yr 5’s went on a trip today to visit the Waterworks since they have been studying the unit “Water” this term. They were given a talk and tour of the Reservoirs inside the tunnels by Jose-Luis Marzan and were later taken into the labs where the water is tested and treated. Jose-Luis explained the whole process our water goes through before it reaches our taps!!

The children where all very engaged and interested especially since most of them were not aware that we had reservoirs inside the Rock!!

The children were accompanied by Ms W Brown, trip organiser, Mrs Lima and PC Debono.

Staff goes Wine Tasting!

The staff were treated to a Wine Tasting evening by Stagnetto Ltd. The event was organised by Ms Neish and it was well attended. The school is very grateful to the Directors, Maurice and Peter Stagnetto, and to the Sales Team, Alfred Lavagna and John Napoli, for enhancing our ‘education’ on the ‘vino’. A great evening! Thank you.

May Altar

Once again the school has set up a May Altar. Children and teachers have been asked to bring in flowers to decorate the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Inter-School Badminton Tournament for Girls

Inter-School Chess Tournament

Once again Sacred Heart participated in the Inter-School Chess Tournament which was held at The Caleta Palace Hotel.

Our team this year was made up of two Year 5 children and 4 Year 4 children. A very young team who will hopefully gain much experience for future tournaments. Keep it up!

James Robba got the trophy for the best player of the team having won 2 out of the 5 games played. Well done!

Cycling Proficiency Awards

Cycling Proficiency Certificates were presented to the children by CI C Yeats at a reception in the IPA Club. Pictured above are the successful children together with PC Debono, our School Liaison Officer, who organised the course.

Childline Gibraltar presentation

A cheque to the value of £130 was presented to Childline Gibraltar today. The money was raised at the recently held Childline Blue Day when the children were asked to wear an item of blue clothing in exchange for a donation. Well done!

Spring Festival Winners

The official launch of the 2012 Gibraltar Spring Festival was held this afternoon at the John Mackintosh Hall where the winning entry for the 2012 Spring Festival Logo was displayed.
With over 200 artists submitting entries and the high standards received, the panel decided to grant a further 12 highly commended awards of £20 vouchers each. Amongst them was Mouetaz Ziani from Sacred Heart Middle School. Well done!

Updates from Sierra Nevada

8:30am:

There was a very successful rapping competition last night which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The winners will be announced on the coach on their way back Gibraltar.

Even the teachers performed a rap for the children!

The children had breakfast at 8am and were getting ready to go up the slopes again for their last skiing session. This morning they will be skiing with the instructors from 10am till 1pm after which they will be making their way to Pradollano for lunch. The children have already packed their suitcases. There might be time after lunch to buy some souvenirs before the coach departs for Gibraltar at 4pm. The coach should arrive at the Coach Park in Gibraltar at around 7:45pm.
